King Saha Urges Govt to Raise Condolence Package to Shs50 Million
King Saha believes the government needs to rethink the amount it gives bereaved families as a condolence package.
Speaking during an interview on NRG Radio while reflecting on the death of veteran dancehall artiste Master Parrot, the singer argued that the government’s Shs10 million suppprt no longer carries the impact it once did.

The government needs to know that its minimum condolence package should be Shs50 million for ordinary citizens. Diplomats can receive up to Shs100 million so that a family can at least pay school fees for two to five years as they adjust to life after their loss. But Shs10 million? That amount can be spent in a single day on breakfast, lunch, and dinner for mourners.
Saha also questioned the value of publicly handing over the money, arguing that the practice can create additional pressure for grieving families.
He suggested that officials either increase the amount or quietly deliver the support without turning it into a public announcement.
The Shs10 million that the government gives as condolence package to families that have lost their loved ones is too little to be accompanied by a strong public announcement.
The singer made the remarks while paying tribute to Parrot, whom he described as a dependable friend who always offered guidance and support to those around him.
Master Parrot was a good person who knew how to comfort his peers during difficult times. He always advised his friends whenever they faced challenges, and if you followed his guidance, you often found success.

Master Parrot, born David Sifaayo, died in a hit and run accident on June 1, 2026.
Family, friends, and fans gathered at his ancestral home in Butembe, Kamengo, Mpigi District, on June 3 to pay their final respects.
