Nicki Minaj has claimed powerful figures in the music industry can make talented artistes “almost invisible” if they refuse to play by their rules.

The Trinidadian rapper and singer-songwriter made the remarks during a recent appearance on The Bryce Crawford Podcast, where she spoke about the challenges she believes artists face behind the scenes.

She alleged that some influential figures treat musicians as properties and work against those who refuse to do things their way.

Opening up about her own experience, Minaj described her journey in the industry as a difficult one.

It was constant spiritual warfare. I wish I kind of knew sooner that this music industry was such a spiritual experience because I felt like I brought a knife to a gunfight.

Despite the explosive claims, she chose not to name any of the individuals she was talking about.
