Ugandan Actress Sally Elizabeth Bwamimpeke Dies At 41

The Ugandan entertainment industry is mourning the death of celebrated actress and media personality Sally Elizabeth Bwamimpeke, popularly known to fans as Sally.

Sally passed away on Thursday, May 14, 2026, in Toronto after battling breast cancer. She had relocated to Canada a few years ago.

The actress rose to national fame for her role as the villainous Jasmine in the hit Ugandan drama series Prestige on Pearl Magic Prime. After actress Nana Kagga exited the show in 2021, Sally stepped into the role and quickly became one of the most talked about characters on the series.

In addition, Sally featured in several other productions, including Second Chance and Beneath the Lies. Her performance in Second Chance especially marked a turning point in her career as she transitioned into more emotionally demanding characters.

Away from television, she also built a loyal following on radio through Beat FM’s Sambagala show and later Capital FM’s Overdrive. There, listeners admired her humour, warmth and lively personality.

Meanwhile, her talent continued to earn industry recognition. She later won Best Actress in a TV Series at the IKON Awards for her role in Prestige.

News of her passing was first shared by fellow actor John Ssegawa, who described her as “a great actress, mother and friend.” Since then, tributes have poured in from actors, filmmakers and fans across social media, with many remembering her resilience, kindness and remarkable talent.

Sally leaves behind two sons, Imani and Jesse. Reports further indicate that her body will be repatriated from Canada for burial at her ancestral home in Zirobwe while a vigil continues in Toronto.

Her death marks a painful loss for Uganda’s film and television industry, where many considered her among the most gifted actresses of her generation.
