Years After Calling on Disney, Tyla Lands Toy Story 5 Role
Long before she won Grammy Awards and topped charts around the world, Tyla sat where millions of children did and watched Toy Story.
Now she has become part of it.
Disney and Pixar have cast the South African singer as Inflatable Flamingo in the Sub-Saharan African version of Toy Story 5, giving her a place in one of animation’s most successful franchises.
The role marks Tyla’s first Disney voice acting credit and expands a career that continues to grow beyond music.
The singer described the opportunity as deeply personal because of the memories she associates with the films.
Toy Story has been such a special part of my childhood, so being part of this film is a full circle moment for me. I am incredibly excited for audiences to experience it, and it means so much to know that African viewers will hear an African voice bringing one of these beloved characters to life.
Tyla joins an impressive cast that features Tom Hanks, Tim Allen, Joan Cusack, Conan O’Brien, Greta Lee, and Tony Hale.
The casting gives African audiences something else to celebrate: one of the continent’s biggest stars lending her voice to a globally loved franchise.
