Afrobeats star Adekunle Gold says a severe sickle cell crisis once pushed him to the point of asking God to end his life.

At 20, I had the craziest crisis of my life. I told God to take my life. And my mom couldn’t even rebuke me.

The singer recalled that the pain became so intense that even his mother, who normally encouraged him to stay strong, could not respond the way she usually would.

During the conversation with media personality Angela Yee, Adekunle Gold also opened up about living with Sickle Cell Disease and the reactions he receives from people after revealing his condition.

According to the “Party No Dey Stop” hitmaker, many people immediately look at him with pity or fear, as though his life could suddenly end.

Even so, the singer said he remains thankful for the strength to keep surviving and pushing through the disease.
