Asake Hits 500 Million Spotify Streams Again With “Lungu Boy”

Half a billion streams later, Asake’s global run shows no signs of slowing down.

The Nigerian Afrobeats star has reached another major milestone after his third studio album, “Lungu Boy,” officially crossed 500 million streams on Spotify.

Released on August 9, 2024, the project has continued building momentum months after launch and now stands as another major commercial success in Asake’s growing catalogue.

The achievement gives him his third album to surpass the half billion streaming mark on Spotify, further strengthening his position as one of Africa’s biggest streaming exports.

The milestone also places him alongside Burna Boy as the only Nigerian artistes with multiple projects exceeding 500 million Spotify streams.

“Lungu Boy” expanded Asake’s global reach through collaborations featuring Wizkid, Travis Scott, Stormzy, Central Cee, and Ludmilla.

The album also featured production from names including P.Priime, Magicsticks, Mike Dean, Sarz and Sak Pase.
