Eddy Kenzo Blames ‘Quick Results’ Mindset for Industry Struggles
Eddy Kenzo believes one of the biggest obstacles holding back Uganda’s music industry is the growing demand for quick results and instant success.
The Uganda National Musicians Federation (UNMF) president says many artistes focus on quick results while overlooking the structures needed to sustain careers and strengthen the industry over the long term.

The biggest challenge is that many artistes want quick results, yet the industry requires structures that can support everyone for years to come.
According to Kenzo, building a successful music industry requires more than hit songs and viral moments. He argues that musicians must also invest in systems that protect their careers and create opportunities for future generations.
The singer pointed to initiatives such as training programmes, copyright awareness campaigns, and industry development efforts as examples of the work needed to professionalise the sector.
Kenzo believes Uganda already has the talent to compete on the international stage, but says organisation, consistency, and long-term planning remain critical if the industry is to reach its full potential.
For him, the conversation should focus less on immediate rewards and more on building an industry that can continue supporting musicians for years to come.
