Ethics Commissioner Condemns Sharing of Explicit Content Online
Makumbi Moses Eric, Commissioner for Ethics, Policy, and Standards at the Directorate for Ethics and Integrity (DEI), has warned against the circulation of explicit content on social media, saying authorities will not ignore those involved.
Speaking on Sanyuka Uncut, Makumbi criticized the capture and distribution of private content, arguing that such acts violate people’s dignity and privacy.
Capturing and releasing nudity to the public is wrong. We are going to take action against those involved in such acts.
His remarks come amid increased discussion online following the circulation of alleged explicit content linked to internet personalities Shan Lips and Kirabo Kisitu.
Beyond those directly involved in creating such content, Makumbi also cautioned members of the public against sharing or forwarding it across digital platforms.
He urged content creators, bloggers, and social media users to act responsibly online, warning that the misuse of digital platforms can attract legal consequences.
The commissioner further encouraged victims of privacy violations to report incidents to the relevant authorities so investigations can begin.
