Kapeke Says Struggle Is the Secret to Making Hit Songs
Few artistes in Uganda’s music industry can match the run Kapeke has enjoyed over the past two years.
With one successful release after another, the singer has established himself as one of the industry’s most reliable hitmakers.
So what does he credit for that success?
Not talent. Not luck.
According to Kapeke, the answer lies in the struggle he endured long before the hits started coming.
I got the trick from struggling. I really struggled a lot… and it takes time and a lot of hustle.
He also suggested that artistes hoping to enjoy similar success should not expect a different path.
They should also first struggle… if they do not struggle they will not do what works.
Kapeke knows the struggle that come before success firsthand.
Although he launched his music career in 2020, success did not arrive overnight. His breakthrough finally came in 2024 through a string of viral songs and major collaborations that pushed him into the spotlight.
Rapper Feffe Bussi recently revealed that Kapeke nearly abandoned music altogether before his career turned around.
Looking back, Kapeke believes those difficult experiences helped him discover what works and laid the foundation for the success he enjoys today.
