Karole Kasita Addresses Backlash Over Economy Flight To London
After photos showed Karole Kasita and other artistes flying economy to London, social media quickly turned the trip into a debate about how Ugandan musicians should travel for international shows.
While some people argued that musicians should demand business class tickets and luxury treatment from promoters abroad, Karole believes the bigger priority is securing the opportunity and delivering the performance.
Speaking to Rewind after returning to Uganda, the singer explained that some travel decisions come down to urgency and availability rather than status.

I went in economy, but I came back in business class. Sometimes the goal is simply getting where you are going because they may need you a particular day and on that day there is no business class or it is booked out.
She also rejected the pressure celebrities often face online to constantly maintain flashy lifestyles just to satisfy public expectations.
I do not want to live my life by people’s expectations. I do not want a day to come where I fail to travel for work simply because I cannot fly the business class people expect.
With many diaspora promoters balancing flights, accommodation, venues, transport, and several artistes at once, Karole says flexibility sometimes matters more than appearances.
Rather than forcing luxury, she would rather focus on making money, growing steadily, and trusting the process.
It is all about making money. Once I am banking money, I can travel how I travel. Everything is a process, and we should trust the process.
