Mark Da Urban Calls On Bucha Man To Quit Music And Become LC1 Chairperson

Mark Da Urban has caused a stir on social media after bluntly suggesting that veteran singer Bucha Man should leave music behind and focus on community leadership instead.

Then dancehall singer made the remarks during a recent discussion while speaking about the changing nature of Uganda’s music industry and how some older artistes are struggling to connect with younger audiences.

According to him, Bucha Man current image no longer fits today’s entertainment scene.

Honestly, Bucha Man should be contesting for LC1 chairperson somewhere looking for votes, or just become a ‘Koja’ for the young kids in the village.

He also argued that the veteran singer’s music style no longer appeals to the current generation, adding that watching him continue fighting for stage time feels out of place in today’s industry.

Seeing him still fighting for microphones and stage performances looks weird right now. The music he does is old-fashioned and young people are not relating to it anymore.

The comments immediately triggered debate online, with some fans agreeing that the music business has evolved rapidly over the years, while others accused Mark the Urban of disrespecting one of Uganda’s music pioneers.

Many supporters defended Bucha Man for the role he played in popularising reggae and dancehall music locally, with some arguing that veteran artistes still deserve space and recognition regardless of changing trends.

The discussion has since added to the wider conversation about longevity in Uganda’s entertainment industry and whether older musicians should adapt to newer sounds or make way for a younger generation.
