The Mith, Navio Explain Why Every Rapper Believes They Are Number One

Rap has always been one of the most competitive genres in music.

From upcoming artistes to global superstars, almost every rapper steps into the booth believing they are the best to ever do it.

That confidence was the topic of discussion when Ugandan rap veterans Navio and The Mith appeared on the It’s Never That Serious podcast with Sabrina Agasha.

During the conversation, the rappers spoke about competition in hip-hop and why artistes naturally believe in their own greatness, even when they are still new in the game.

The Mith compared rap to professional sports, saying confidence is part of what drives people to succeed.

But you have to feel that way. Let’s leave rap. With basketball, LeBron is going to be on court saying he is the best. Anthony Edwards is going to say he is the best. It is just like that. There is nothing you can do about it. That is how they feel and they show it. Let’s be great.

Navio kept his response short but direct, saying fans are ultimately the ones who decide who stands out.

Just exist. Let us all exist. The fans will decide.

The Mith later explained that rappers may compete in the same space, but many are chasing completely different goals and visions for their careers.

Do it. Compete with me. That’s great. My goal is completely different from yours currently, and that is the thing about the whole music industry. What I want from this thing is completely different from what Tucker HD wants, what Navio wants. It is completely different So, compete. Go ahead. Do whatever you want. We are never going to walk the same path even if we are given the same tools.

The discussion gave fans a rare glimpse into how two of Uganda’s most respected rappers view confidence, competition, and individuality in the music business.
