Sandra Lian Names Uganda’s Biggest One Hit Wonders

In music, one big song can completely change an artiste’s life.

Sometimes that hit becomes so massive that it follows them forever, even when they struggle to recreate the same magic again.

That is exactly the conversation TV presenter and events host Sandra Lian stirred online after naming the Ugandan artistes she considers the country’s biggest one hit wonders.

While discussing musicians who exploded with one unforgettable song before struggling to match the same level of success afterward, Sandra placed Captain Dollar at the top of her list for “Emese,” a track that still echoes through bars, hangout spots, and old school party playlists years later.

Quex also earned a high spot on the ranking for “Kachumbali,” the energetic anthem that once dominated celebrations, office parties, and dance floors across the country with its catchy dance moves and playful vibe.

Sandra’s list also revisited songs like Omutume Planet’s “Chai W’Enjaye,” Bazzar Bazzar’s “Onina,” and Eezzy Da Lyrical’s “Tumbiza Sound,” tracks that once felt impossible to escape at parties, bars, and on local television.

She also included UgaBoyz for “Salary,” Alimpa for “Lusuku Lwa Siminti,” Kamara for “Amasanyalaze Negagenda,” and Butida for “Baka Basajja Banyuma.”

King Fa eventually rounded off the list, with Sandra joking that his viral TikTok fame disappeared almost as quickly as it arrived.
