Seun Kuti Defends Fela’s Legacy Amid Wizkid Comparisons

Seun Kuti has pushed back against comparisons between his father, Fela Anikulapo Kuti, and Afrobeats star Wizkid.

Speaking during an Instagram livestream, the Grammy nominated singer said linking Wizkid to Fela disrespects the legacy of the Afrobeat pioneer.

He warned Wizkid fans to stop dragging Fela into online debates about modern artistes.

Seun also blamed fan rivalries for growing tension in the music space, saying excessive stan behaviour has affected how artists relate and work together.

He urged fans to enjoy their favourite music without constant comparisons, stressing that Fela’s impact stands on its own.

Wizkid fans are online disrespecting Fela again. Why must you always involve Fela in your petty discussions? The overzealousnes of some of fans has significantly affected the music industry negatively. Some artistes can’t even collaborate because of fan rivalries.. You need to stop misbehaving. Concentrate on your artiste. Can’t you enjoy their music without comparing it to something else? Do you know why you cannot enjoy your artistr’s music without comparing it to something else?
