VIP Jemo on His Absence from the Industry: ‘It Was the Most Challenging Phase’

VIP Jemo, the self-styled king of the new skool, recently opened up about one of the most frightening moments of his life: the time when he was absent from the music industry.

The rapper, who rose to fame around 2018 and 2019 with hits like “Shamim” and “Nakikute,” took a break from music after parting ways with his management around 2020 and 2021.

Reflecting on this period in an interview, VIP Jemo revealed that it was the most challenging phase of his life, as he had no new music and was not being booked.

However, instead of letting this setback define him, he chose to use the time for reflection and re-strategizing.

“I learned many lessons from that experience,” he shared, adding, “I had to rethink my approach and find a way to keep pushing my dream forward.”

Earlier this year, VIP Jemo told Sanyuka TV that his break was largely due to a change in management.

“I took a sudden break from my music because I had changed management. So, I decided to re-strategize and turn up with a new branding style and dress code. That is why I have a new hairstyle and wear crop tops,” he explained.

Now, with a refreshed look and a renewed sense of purpose, VIP Jemo is back and ready to take on the industry once again.
