Why Don Jazzy Never Forgot the Girls Who Rejected Him in School

Long before he became one of Africa’s most influential music executives, Don Jazzy struggled with rejection and self doubt.

The Nigerian producer revealed that girls regularly turned him down during his secondary school years, an experience that left a lasting impact on his confidence.

Speaking on the Keeping It Real With Jima podcast, Don Jazzy admitted he did not consider himself attractive at the time and often faced disappointment whenever he tried to pursue a relationship.

I was not good-looking during my secondary school days. Thank God for music because back then I was constantly being rejected by girls.

Years later, after building a hugely successful career, he decided to revisit that part of his past.

But after I became successful, I went back to look for all the girls who rejected me. But almost all of them were already married.

The Mavin Records boss said meeting former schoolmates again and reflecting on his journey helped him heal from the emotional effects of those early rejections.
