MC Kapale Reveals Why He Chose Purpose Over Comfort in America
MC Kapale has opened up about a moment in his early days in the United States of America that forced him to choose between comfort and purpose.
The Ugandan comedian said life abroad challenged him at the start as he tried to settle while chasing opportunities.
When I had just arrived, things were not easy. You come with big dreams, but reality humbles you very fast.
At the time, he stayed with Ugandan socialite Don Zella, who offered him accommodation as she prepared for surgery.
While she remained in hospital, Kapale managed the home and cared for her children.
She trusted me with her home and her kids. So I stepped up and did what I had to do.
When she returned, she asked him to stay on and continue helping at home, offering him a more stable arrangement.
Kapale said the offer made him reflect on why he had moved to the United States.
It was a good offer, honestly. It meant security. But I had to ask myself why did I really come here?
In the end, he chose his long-term goal over short-term comfort.
I told her, ‘No, I did not come to America to be a houseboy. I came with a mission.’
He admitted the decision challenged him, especially at a time when nothing felt certain, but he stayed committed to his path.
Kapale closed by encouraging others to stay true to their goals.
Walking away from comfort is not simple. But sometimes you have to choose your future over your situation. If you know what you want, do not settle. Stay focused, even when it is hard.
