I Would Rather Go to Jail Than Change My Dressing — Winnie Nwagi
Ugandan singer Winnie Nwagi has doubled down on her fashion choices, saying she is ready to face any consequences rather than change how she dresses.
Critics have repeatedly called out the Swangz Avenue artiste, born Winnifred Nakanwagi, accusing her of dressing inappropriately.
While appearing on Rewind, she addressed the criticism head-on, even suggesting she would rather be arrested than compromise her style.
I will go to jail for wearing what I want. I have said it before, if it is about dressing how I want, then they will arrest me because I am going to continue to do so. I will dress how I want.

She said she will only change her style on her own terms, not because of public pressure.
I will only change depending on how my life goes or how my body feels. If my body tells me I am tired of wearing short clothes, wallahi, you will see me wearing long clothes only. It will be my decision to make.
Nwagi also stressed that dressing is personal and cannot be the same for everyone, rejecting any pressure to conform.
This is society trying to bring some people down because of how they dress. That is why it is called a dressing code. Everyone has their own. I cannot have 1, 2, and 3, and you also have 1, 2, and 3. Everyone has their dressing code.
