Mourners Push Back After Pastor Opposes Hustle Quin Tribute Performance

The burial of popular dancer Hustle Quin briefly turned tense after a disagreement erupted over a planned tribute performance by singer Karole Kasita and other entertainers.

Hustle Quin died in a road accident in Bweyogerere on June 6, 2026. Family members, friends, and fellow entertainers gathered in Buikwe on Monday, June 8, to lay her to rest.

In line with her reported final wishes, dancers and members of Uganda’s creative industry had prepared a special tribute performance to celebrate her life. Karole Kasita was among the entertainers who attended the burial to pay her respects.

The planned tribute, however, sparked an unexpected disagreement during the ceremony.

Witnesses say a pastor leading the service objected to the performances and questioned whether they were appropriate for the occasion. The situation escalated when he reportedly removed his church robes and walked away from the proceedings.

The development drew immediate reactions from mourners and members of the entertainment fraternity, many of whom argued that the performance was meant to honor one of Hustle Quin’s final wishes rather than provide entertainment.

Friends of the late dancer claimed she had previously expressed a desire to have Karole Kasita perform at her farewell.

Members of Josh Tyro Dancers also voiced their disappointment, arguing that dancers and entertainers often face unfair judgment despite the dedication and sacrifices they make throughout their careers.

As emotions ran high, supporters continued pushing for the tribute to go ahead.

In a touching moment, Karole Kasita and several other entertainers reportedly knelt before the pastor and pleaded for permission to proceed with the performance.

Their appeal eventually succeeded, allowing the tribute to move forward and giving friends, dancers, and fellow entertainers an opportunity to honor Hustle Quin in the manner they believed she wanted.

The performances later went ahead as mourners celebrated the life of a dancer whose passion, talent, and energy left a lasting mark on many people within Uganda’s entertainment industry.
