Ugandans Rally To Invite Steve Harvey To The Pearl Of Africa
Ugandans across social media have launched an enthusiastic campaign inviting Steve Harvey to visit the Pearl of Africa after the American TV personality reacted positively to a post praising Uganda’s tourism attractions.
The excitement started after Harvey asked his followers online to name Africa’s best kept secret destination.
Ugandan economist Mukisa Isaac responded by highlighting the country’s famous gorilla trekking experience in Bwindi, scenic views near the River Nile and Lake Victoria, as well as Uganda’s long standing reputation as the “Pearl of Africa,” a phrase famously popularised by Winston Churchill.
Harvey quickly replied with excitement.
Uganda sounds amazing, I’m sold!
His response immediately sparked excitement among Ugandans online, with influencers, media personalities, tourism promoters, safari operators, and ordinary social media users flooding his comment sections with reasons why he should visit the country.
The official Ugandan government account also joined the campaign, sharing a detailed message praising Uganda’s natural beauty, wildlife, landscapes, and hospitality.
When you come to Uganda, you will not simply visit a country; you will find a home away from home.
Media personality Douglas Lwanga also encouraged Ugandans to continue pushing the campaign online by sharing more reasons why Uganda should be on Harvey’s travel list.
The online excitement comes at a time when Uganda continues positioning itself as one of Africa’s leading tourism destinations, especially for mountain gorillas, wildlife safaris, waterfalls, cultural heritage, and the source of the River Nile.
