Col. Nakalema Urges Ellah to Return Ex-Husband’s Property and Seek Forgiveness
Senior Presidential Advisor on Anti-Corruption Col. Edith Nakalema has weighed in on the ongoing dispute between former Miss Uganda 2013 Stellah Nantumbwe, popularly known as Ellah, and her estranged husband, Saidi Bukenya.
In a widely shared video, Nakalema appealed to Ellah to repent, seek forgiveness, and return property she claims belongs to Bukenya, whom the beauty queen married in 2025.
Temuja kweyagalira mu bintu by’omusajja nga ali eyo akaaba, nga akolima.
The statement translates to: “There is no way you will have peace using a man’s property when he is out there crying and cursing.”
Nakalema further criticized how Ellah allegedly handled the matter, saying she was wrong to take the man’s property and expressing even greater disappointment over reports that her mother accompanied her.
She urged both women to reflect on their actions and do what she believes is right.
May God guide you to do the right thing and return what belongs to him.
The Senior Presidential Advisor also expressed hope that the couple could eventually reconcile despite their differences.
If God wills it, it may be possible for her to find her way back to her lawfully wedded husband.
Nakalema later directed a special message to Ellah’s mother, urging her not to carry unresolved disputes through the rest of her life.
Do not let this debt or wrong go with you to the grave because as we grow, our days on earth are also reducing.
Her remarks come amid continued public interest in the breakdown of Ellah and Bukenya’s marriage, with social media users closely following developments and sharing their views on the dispute.
Neither Ellah nor Saidi Bukenya had publicly responded to Nakalema’s comments at the time of publication.
