Davido Reveals Plan to Buy Back His Music Masters Before Retirement
Davido is already making plans for what happens to his music when he eventually retires.
The Nigerian star revealed that he wants to buy back his music masters from Sony, saying ownership remains one of the most important parts of an artiste’s career.
His long term goal is to regain control of his catalog and use it to secure his children’s future.
I have a good music contract. But the most important thing is ownership. I plan to get my masters back from Sony soon. With that I can give each of my kid songs they will keep earning royalties from even after I retire.
Rather than leaving behind only a musical legacy, Davido hopes his songs will continue generating income for his family for years.
He believes every child could benefit from owning part of his catalog and collecting royalties long after he steps away from the spotlight.
The singer also stressed that artistes should take the business side of music as seriously as the creative side.
