Kin Bella Speaks Out on Losing Control of Song with Eddy Kenzo
Upcoming artiste Kin Bella has opened up about losing control over her collaboration with Eddy Kenzo, revealing she holds no ownership rights despite believing the project was originally hers.
Speaking during an interview on Galaxy TV, Kin Bella pointed to the song “Nkuwe” and explained why it ended up on Kenzo’s platforms, citing his bigger audience and established brand.
“Personally I have a song with Eddy Kenzo, I have nothing on that song, not even rights over it,” she said. “He told me the song should go on his page because he has a bigger following and numbers.”
She admitted that fear and the power imbalance stopped her from challenging the decision at the time.
“I was scared to say anything about it because he is bigger than me, even when I know the song is mine,” she added.
Kin Bella said the experience reflects a wider issue in the music industry, where upcoming artistes often give up control in collaborations with more established names, sometimes without fully understanding the long-term implications.
She added that such situations point to the need for better structures to protect young creatives, including clearer agreements and stronger representation.
“Because of things like this, I really think artistes of this generation need their own federation,” she said.
