Mbeewo Calls Out Stereotypes About Upcoming Female Artistes
Rising singer Mbeewo has opened up about the stereotypes many upcoming female artistes face in Uganda, saying people often assume they are not serious about music.
During an interview on NRG Radio, Mbeewo explained that music has grown beyond being just a hobby for her and now feels more like a purpose and calling.
First of all, I just discovered that this is no longer a hobby, but first of all a talent and a calling. I believe I am here for a purpose. Whatever music I sing is doing something to someone.

The conversation also turned to the stereotypes many upcoming female artistes continue to face in the music industry.
According to Mbeewo, many people assume female musicians only care about trends, luxury lifestyles, or finding wealthy partners instead of building long term careers in music.
I think the leading one is that most people think upcoming female artistes are not serious. Probably they are here for a trend… probably they are here for luxury.

She went on to say that some people believe female artistes would quickly walk away from music once they find financial comfort elsewhere.
Mbeewo, however, insisted that she wants to prove that stereotype wrong.
And if I get a man and he is willing to give me the money music is not giving me, I am quitting music… but I am here to break that misconception.
