The row started during a recent episode of Jimmy Kimmel Live!, aired just days before the White House Correspondents’ Dinner. Kimmel referred to Melania as an “expectant widow,” a line that quickly drew sharp reactions online.
Trump did not wait long to respond. Posting on Truth Social, he called for Kimmel to be “immediately fired” and described the joke as offensive. He also took a swipe at the show, questioning its ratings.
The president went further and accused Kimmel of misleading viewers. He claimed the show used a doctored clip to make it seem like Melania and their son Barron were sitting in the studio audience.
Melania had already raised concerns about the segment, adding to the pressure on the late night host.
