Tyra Banks Sues Netflix Over America’s Next Top Model Documentary
Tyra Banks is taking Netflix to court.
The former supermodel and America’s Next Top Model creator has filed a lawsuit against the streaming giant and the producers behind a new documentary about the hit reality show.
In court documents, Banks claims Reality Check: Inside America’s Next Top Model used selective editing that misrepresented her comments and damaged her reputation.
At the center of her complaint is former contestant Shandi Sullivan. Banks says the documentary made it appear as though she could not remember a major moment from Sullivan’s time on the show. She argues that her full interview showed otherwise, but producers left that footage out.
Another issue involves comments from former judge Miss J Alexander. Banks claims the documentary ignored important details about their communication after his 2022 stroke.
Banks is seeking damages and a jury trial. The lawsuit names Netflix, the documentary’s directors and several production companies as defendants.
Neither Netflix nor the filmmakers had publicly responded to the lawsuit at the time of publication.
