UNMF Issues Security Alert Over Plot to Discredit Eddy Kenzo

The Uganda National Musicians Federation (UNMF) has issued a security alert, warning of a planned effort to discredit its president, Eddy Kenzo, and the federation’s leadership.

In a public notice released on April 22, the federation said it had received “credible information regarding a planned and coordinated effort” to damage Kenzo’s reputation and undermine UNMF operations.

According to the statement, the alleged plan includes attempts to “stage public confrontations and security incidents” as well as “circulate false allegations and misleading narratives.”

UNMF said such actions appear intended to create public disorder, damage credibility, and weaken trust in the federation’s leadership.

The body also pointed to possible involvement from certain promoters, industry players, sections of musicians, and individuals seeking relevance through controversy, though it noted that investigations remain the responsibility of security agencies.

In response, the federation urged its members to remain calm, avoid provocation, and report any suspicious activity through official channels.

It also called on the media to exercise responsibility by verifying information before publication and avoiding the spread of unconfirmed claims.

At the same time, UNMF appealed to security agencies to step in, investigate the alleged plans, and ensure the safety of all stakeholders, especially during public engagements.

The federation maintained that it remains committed to unity, professionalism, and the structured growth of Uganda’s music industry, while condemning any attempts to use intimidation or misinformation for personal or political gain.

The statement comes amid growing criticism of Kenzo’s leadership from fellow artistes, including Ziza Bafana and King Saha, adding further tension within the industry.
