Ambassador Juju Faces the Nile in Powerful New Documentary
Uganda’s Ambassador to China, Judith “Juju” Nsababera, steps into the spotlight in the documentary, Back to the Source – The Nile.
The film follows her as she travels across Uganda, reconnects with her roots, and faces the River Nile, a place she feared as a child.
Her journey starts as a personal reflection but quickly opens up into a wider story about the country’s identity.
She moves through key destinations like Jinja, Bwindi Impenetrable National Park, Kisoro, Mbarara, and Lake Mburo National Park, giving viewers a clear look at Uganda’s natural beauty and culture.
Ugandan filmmaker Derrick Ssenyonyi directs the project and grounds it in real life rather than fiction. He weaves her diplomatic role into everyday Ugandan experiences and landscapes.
The documentary is already drawing attention for its fresh approach. It uses a personal story to present Uganda in a way that feels direct, honest, and hard to ignore.
