Bebe Cool Explains Absence of Luganda in New Album Break the Chains, Teases Future Remixes With It
Veteran Ugandan artiste Bebe Cool has addressed criticism about his latest album, Break The Chains, especially regarding the absence of Luganda lyrics in his own vocals.
While the album does feature some Luganda, it is sung by Joshua Baraka on their collaboration track, “Cheque,” not by Bebe Cool himself.
During a recent live session on social media, Bebe Cool explained, “An album is a body of work that does not stop at its beginning.”
He added that he plans to revisit some songs in the future, creating remixes that could include Luganda lyrics.
“I can wake up in the morning and remix a song or two with a big artiste, and that is when I can involve one, two, or even three Luganda statements. All those things have been prepared with time,” he said.
So, while the original album lacks indigenous language vocals, fans and critics can look forward to remixes that will bring Luganda back into the mix.
Released on May 30, 2025, Break The Chains marks a bold new chapter in Bebe Cool’s career.
The album signals his deliberate shift from his signature local sound to a fresh, modern Afro-inspired style aimed at reaching global audiences.
